Rehearsal Information
Rehearsal for both Company dancers and non-company cast members are available through the links at the left. Rehearsals are also posted at the Acton School of Ballet in the upper and lower lobbies.
We make every effort to project accurate rehearsal schedules. However, from time to time circumstances force a change in schedule. Once a schedule has been posted here, dancers will be notified of changes by telephone.
Rehearsal Policies
- The rehearsal time posted is the beginning of the rehearsal, not when a dancer should be arriving at the rehearsal space. Dancers are responsible for preparing themselves for rehearsal and being ready, in the rehearsal room, at the designated time.
- Out of respect to your fellow dancers, please do not talk while others are dancing.
- It is common courtesy quietly to attend to (that is, look at) the director whenever he/she is talking. Please do not make the director(s) talk over you.
- Dancers should return their props to the property boxes at the end of rehearsal.
- Under no circumstances should dancers bring food or drink (other than water) into the rehearsal rooms. Dancers should not eat when wearing costumes.
- Attendance is expected at all scheduled rehearsals. Company members are under contract to attend all rehearsals. In the case of unavoidable conflicts, please contact Chip Morris.
From the CBC Company contract:
I agree to make myself available at the regularly scheduled rehearsal times of Wednesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. I also understand that certain roles in Nutcracker and other ballets may require that I rehearse on Sunday afternoons from mid-September until December. I agree to reserve for theater or studio rehearsals all weekday evenings immediately preceding the weekend of major productions such as Nutcracker, a story ballet such as The Secret Garden, or repertory performances. I understand that certain soloist and partnering roles may require rehearsals outside of the usual schedule, including Friday evening, weekday afternoons after school, and Sundays, and that any inability to attend those rehearsals may affect my being cast in such roles. I agree to make a good-faith effort to obtain time off from school once or twice per semester so that I may perform in lecture-demonstrations during school hours. I acknowledge having read the tentative production schedule for the coming season.
and
I understand and agree that if a personal conflict arises that prevents me from attending a regularly scheduled CBC rehearsal, I shall give timely and written notice to the choreographer and Artistic Director.
