About

Commonwealth Ballet is a pre-professional youth ballet company based in Acton, MA. Our dancers perform in several high level performances each season including The Nutcracker, rotating original story ballets, and mixed repertory programs, in addition to participating in community outreach events. We strive to supply our dancers with valuable artistic and technical experiences as well as a strong support system of peers and mentors.

Our CBC family of dancers, artistic staff, dedicated board members, volunteers, guest artists, family, and alumni are proud to share the art of ballet with the Boston/Metro West community.

History

Commonwealth Ballet Company was formed by Kathryn Anderson and Chip Morris in October of 1992. Since then, the Acton-based Company has produced over 80 dance programs. CBC is proud of each and every one of their alumni, who have gone on to excel in the professional world, both as dancers and wherever else their passions lead them. The company maintains close ties with Acton School of Ballet, which is recognized as the official partner school and physical home base.

Our Mission

Commonwealth Ballet Company develops, fosters and promotes the performance and appreciation of classical and contemporary ballet. To this end, CBC endeavors to maintain strong ties with the communities it serves, provide a substantial educational opportunity for young dancers, and demonstrate the highest level of artistic quality.
