Tradition & Transformation
Tradition & Transformation is the motto for our 2026/2027 season, marking 35 years of CBC.
About 30% of non-profits fail to make it past their 10 year mark, largely due to the funding instability of the business structure. The fact that CBC has reached 35 years of developing and promoting the performance and appreciation of ballet is a milestone to be celebrated. To us, this means reinforcing our history and traditions; highlighting new artistic voices and initiatives; and renewing the vision for the future of this organization and the community that sustains it.
What has CBC done in the last 35 years?
-
Since our 1992 formation, CBC has produced 9 original story ballets including our annual audience favorite The Nutcracker, Beauty and the Beast, The Nightingale, The Secret Garden, Peter and the Wolf, and Dracula, to name a few. Storytelling through these original works has always been a pillar of our mission.
-
Bringing exceptional Professional Guest Artists into our studios and productions is key, not only to our audiences as a performance highlight, but to our dancers as an example, resource, and tool for growth. We have been joined by over 30 of these artists over the years and are so grateful to each and every one of them for bringing their artistry to our community.
-
Showcasing accomplished and emerging choreographic voices is central to CBC. We have had the pleasure of working with over 15 Guest Choreographers in the past 35 years and we are thankful to each of them for sharing their knowledge and vision with our dancers and audiences.
-
This season will mark 10 years of offering our Sensory Friendly Performance of The Nutcracker. This adapted one act version of our family-favorite production allows audience members with special needs and young families to enjoy this holiday classic that otherwise may feel inaccessible to them.
We look forward to continuing and building on this offering.
-
CBC has supported 13+ dancers in their journeys towards becoming a Professional Dancer. In an industry where less than 2% make it to the professional level, this statistic is to be celebrated.
Many of our dancers have gone on to attend prestigious colleges/universities, become scientists, doctors, politicians, business people, teachers, artists, and beyond. We are amazed by our community of incredible alumni.

You know and love it. Save the date for our 2026 performances at Regis College - November 27-29 and December 18-20.
Tradition
Since its founding in 1992 by Kathryn Anderson and Chip Morris, CBC’s foundation has been the appreciation and performance of the art of classical ballet. Ballet and its technique, stories, costumes, and structure is a rich tradition in and of itself. At CBC we have and continue to nurture that tradition in the studio, on stage, and backstage through our commitment to quality, technique, and education. Those who are close friends of the organization also know about our many beloved CBC-specific traditions involving York Peppermint Patties, grand battement singalongs, Dew Drop crowns, and beyond. Traditions give us a strong foundation and help us connect.
Transformation
Transformation means always finding new ways to serve our dancers and community. This season also marks 10 years of offering our Sensory Friendly performance option for The Nutcracker. This offering was created to reach members of our community to whom ballet has not previously felt accessible, and it has been a highlight - and now a tradition - of our season ever since. We look forward to continuing to develop avenues of reaching new communities.
Transformation also means exploring new styles, artists, methods of teaching, and voices. We seek to provide our dancers with a well rounded view of dance, including its history and where it’s at today. CBC’s efforts to provide our Company with education in a diverse array of dance art styles supports other artists and arts organizations within our Metro-West community in turn. From working with over 15 guest choreographers and teachers, over 30 professional guest artists, to venues, costumers, and musicians, creating our art is uplifting and transforming the art community we live in.
